Myenergi launches Zappi smart EV charge point range

Myenergi has rolled-out its range of Zappi smart EV charge points, which look to make charging electric vehicles using renewable energy easier.

The new range is made up of tethered Zappi, untethered Zappi, and Myenergi hub device & app. Charging at up to 22 kW is possible from Zappi units where infrastructure allows, and the Myenergi hub package allows customers to remotely control charging and view live data.

The units are ideal for home-owners with grid-tied micro-generation systems, such as solar panels or a wind turbine. The Zappi unit has two eco-charging modes that automatically adjust charging current in response to on-site generation and household power consumption.

When set to ‘fast’ mode, Zappi points act just like a normal EV charge point, providing maximum power no matter the home-generated support. However, ‘eco’ mode continually adjusts power until the vehicle is fully charged, even if some power is drawn from the grid, while ‘eco+’ will pause charging if too much imported power is used – only charging again when there is surplus power available.

Robert Llewellyn, from Fully Charged, said: “Being one of the first customers of the incredible zappi charger and after using it on a daily basis, it makes the combination of solar panels and an electric car a no brainer, it’s easy to use, reliable and saves me a
lot of money.”

Jordan Brompton, myenergi Co-Founder and Sales Director, said: “This launch marks an exciting time of growth for myenergi as we’ve truly listened to customer feedback, stayed true to ourselves and stayed ahead of the game with innovation. We want to be around for many years at the forefront of the transport and energy revolution.”

Fiona Howarth, Octopus Electric Vehicles CEO, said: “At Octopus Electric Vehicles we are thrilled to partner with myenergi and offer our customers some of the most revolutionary technology by pairing our dynamic EV tariff Octopus Go with zappi, and making the move to zero-carbon transportation and cleaner air as part of our commitment to better health for the next generation, with an outlook for more sustainable living.”
