Vauxhall has cut the price of its Corsa-e and Mokka-e models by £3,000 after the government’s recent reduction of the Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG). Anyone looking to buy the Corsa-e and Mokka-e models will now benefit from the reduction across all Corsa-e and Mokka-e versions, effective immediately.

The revised pricing, which overrides previous customer offers, means that Vauxhall’s electric car range now starts from £25,805 on-the-road, including the PiCG.

The move from Vauxhall comes after the government announced last week that the grant scheme for zero-emission vehicles had been reduced in order to target less expensive models. Effective as of 15th December, the government now provides grants of up to £1,500 for electric cars priced under £32,000. Grant rates for the Plug-in Van Grant are now £5,000 for large vans and £2,500 for small vans, with a limit of 1,000 per customer per year.

Both Vauxhall models, the Corsa-e and the Mokka-e, form part of the carmaker’s electrification push. According to Vauxhall, it will offer an electrified variant across its entire model line-up by 2024 – and will have a fully electric vehicle range by 2028. As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of electric vans, Vauxhall offers an electric version of every van in its model line-up.

“Vauxhall wants to move the UK to electric motoring as quickly as possible, which is why we have committed to being an electric-only brand from 2028,” said Paul Willcox, Managing Director, Vauxhall.

“In light of a further evolution to the Government Plug-in Car Grant, we have taken the decision to change our pricing policy on our all-electric Corsa-e and Mokka-e models. With more attainable pricing from significant reductions on both models, as well as the grant, we hope to put zero-emissions-in-use motoring within the reach of even more British motorists.”

Last week, Vauxhall announced that its Corsa-e and Mokka-e ranges have increased in the official WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure) cycle, thanks to the continuous development of its electric vehicles.

Now, the Corsa-e can cover up to 222 miles according to the WLTP Preliminary Figure on a single charge of its battery. The figure is up from 209 miles previously. The range of the Mokka-e has also increased to 209 miles (WLTP), up from 201 miles previously.
