Volkswagen has released its next-generation Golf GTE in the UK, with the plug-in hybrid featuring a range of up to 32 miles on a charge.
Featuring a 13 kWh battery – 50% larger than the previous generation’s – the Golf GTE uses a 110 hp electric motor and 1.4 litre petrol engine for a combined 245 hp – the same output as the new Golf GTI.
As such, the plug-in hot-hatch will cover the 0-62 mph sprint in 6.7 seconds, but also has official efficiency scores of 176.6 MPG and CO2 emissions of 36 g/km.
Charging is possible at 3.6 kW, which will take a little under four hours. Familiar blue highlights mark out the Golf GTE model, now in its second iteration following the launch of the Golf 8.
Prices start at £35,960, and the new VW Golf GTE is available to order now.
