Nissan has launched its new e-NV200 40kWh, with the commercial vehicle boasting a greater range thanks to the addition of the company’s new larger battery pack.
Nissan quotes a range of 124 miles on a single charge, calculated on the WLTP driving cycle, which is tougher than the official NEDC cycle. The longer-range e-NV200 has a 705kG payload and, because of its zero-tailpipe emissions, is exempt from VED, the London Congestion Charge and T-Charge, and all proposed low and ultra-low emission zones.
Using the same battery as the new Nissan Leaf 40kWh, the e-NV200 is available as an electric van, or as an MPV in Evalia trim. Also brought over from the new Leaf is Nissan’s bi-directional charging system, which allows for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging.
The e-nV200 can therefore save users even more money than just lower running costs over conventionally powered LCVs. By charging at off-peak times, and allowing the e-NV200 to be used as an energy storage device at peak electricity demand, extra revenue can be brought in from selling energy back to the grid.
The NissanConnect app allows users to track driver logs and check on battery charge remotely, while also letting drivers set-up the vehicles charging times and climate control settings.
With a driving range of more than 120 miles on a charge, the e-NV200 40kWh comfortably covers the average 55 miles travelled by vans each day in the UK. Prices start from £18,599 (CVOTR inc. PiVG), and orders are being takn now.
