POD Point and Savills have joined forces to promote EV charging at retail parks and shopping centres across the UK. The electric vehicle charge point manufacturers will work with the estate agent’s managed retail locations to improve the availability of EV charging spots.

With increasing numbers of plug-in cars on the road, retail centres have great potential to be important charging locations. Many shoppers will drive to the shopping centres, which often have their own car park, and will be there for a few hours at least. This gives more than enough time for a decent top-up.

Nick Herward, head of property management at Savills, said: “We are always looking to improve the offer of the out of town shopping centres and retail parks we manage on behalf of our clients to improve the overall experience for customers.

“Encouraging sustainable practices is part of this. As we adapt to new technologies, it’s important we cater for the emerging EV driver market and working with POD Point will allow us to do this.”

Erik Fairbairn, Founder and CEO of POD Point said: “We are very excited to work with Savills to further grow and improve charging infrastructure in public places. In doing so, and as infrastructure continues to grow, we believe this will encourage ever more people to purchase electric vehicles.”
