Polestar has revealed its latest concept model, Precept. It’s a model that isn’t set to join the range that currently features the 1 and 2, but it does provide hints as to the brands next model.

The sleek four-door saloon showcases the next generation of features due from Volvo’s electrified performance arm.

As you might expect from a name linked so closely with safety, Polestar’s Volvo roots are coming through with a new HMI design for the screen. To minimise distractions, the screen will show only basic information until the car’s sensors track the driver’s eyes looking at it.

By tracking the driver’s sight lines, it will adjust displays depending on the view required. Additional sensors will also detect when a hand is approaching it, when more information will be displayed, buttons made larger for easier use, and the screen will become brighter.

With a new infotainment system built on Android premiering in the Polestar 2, the Precept showcases the next stages of development. Google Assistant will feature and evolve as a more helpful co-pilot, video streaming will be available whilst charging the car, and interior preferences will automatically adjust.

Cabin trim will feature new technologies in the field of plastic recycling. 3d-Knit is made from 100% recycled PET bottles and is a woven fabric already used in fashion and footwear markets.

Nylon 6 is another plastic used within the cabin, made from recycled fishing nets, cork will be utilised in future Polestar models, and Bcomp is a material forming the rear seat panels made out of woven flax.

As for powertrain, suffice to say that it’s electric, though no details have been released as yet. Images also show a Lidar sensor on the leading edge of the Precept’s roof, hinting at autonomous driving technologies packaged within.
