Land Rover has launched plug-in hybrid versions of two of its most popular models – the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.

Electric driving range is rated at up to 41 miles, and CO2 emissions as low as 32 g/km. Both are badged P300e, and unusually for PHEVs, both feature CCS inlets to allow DC charging.

The two share a new plug-in hybrid powertrain, using a 200 hp 1.5 litre petrol engine with an 80 kW (109 hp) electric motor for power. As you would expect from Land Rover, both models provide all-wheel drive.

It is the Range Rover Evoque that has the headline efficiency figures above, with its 41 mile electric range and 32 g/km CO2 matched with an official fuel economy figure of 201.8 MPG.

The Discovery Sport’s figures come in at 38 miles in electric-only mode, 175.5 MPG, and 36 g/km CO2. Performance times are 6.4 seconds 0-62 mph for the Evoque P300e, and 6.6 seconds for the Discovery Sport.

Land Rover’s good PHEV electric range figures are possible thanks to a 15 kWh battery, charged via the Type 2 inlet at up to 7 kW for a 0-80% charge in a little under an hour and a half.

The Land Rovers feature a Type 2 CCS inlet that will allow DC charging from rapid chargers at up to 32 kW. This enables a 0-80% charge in just half an hour.

The usual plug-in driving features are fitted, including brake energy recuperation, and driving modes allowing the driver to select Hybrid, EV, or Save, depending on requirements.

The two new plug-in models join Land Rover’s Range Rover and Range Rover Sport P400e PHEVs in the electrified line-up.

Trims levels see the Evoque P300e available as S, SE, or HSE, either in standard or R-Dynamic specification. The Discovery Sport P300e is available in R-Dynamic S, SE, or HSE trims.

Prices start at £43,850 for the Range Rover Evoque P300e, whilst the Land Rover Discovery Sport P300e starts at £45,370. Both are available to order now.
