Zap-Map has reached a key landmark, with more than 100,000 users now registered to the UK’s leading charging point platform.

The 100,000th registered user is John Abrahams, who receives a £25 Amazon voucher as a token of Zap-Map’s appreciation, and to celebrate the landmark.

Mr Abrahams commented: “The Zap-Map app and desktop map are my starting point whenever I’m doing a long journey. It gives me all the up-to-date information I need on the charging points.

“The fact that it shows all the networks including the Superchargers is so cool. The website was also really helpful when I first looked at getting an electric vehicle. Brilliant website and app; helps take the stress out of owning an EV.”

The public charging point network has been tracked by Zap-Map since 2012, and a registration facility was introduced on the desktop map in 2014 followed by the iOS and Android apps in 2015.

The number of registered users has grown from a few hundred in 2014 to over 100,000 in May 2020. Over the same period, the number of pure EVs on UK roads has gone from almost 10,500 at the end of 2014 to 117,000 by May 2020.

All users of Zap-Map can search the map and view charge point info, while Zap-Map registered users also benefit from access to additional features including: filtering connectors by EV, saving user filters, logging favourites, commenting on charge points, adding pictures, adding a charger to Zap-Home network, and planning routes with the smart route planner.

These features have proved popular with more then 80,000 EV models recorded, 72,900 routes planned and 220,000 Zap-Chat updates posted.

The most frequent model listed by registered users is Nissan’s Leaf, followed by the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i3 in second and third respectively.

Zap-Map continues to develop its services, with recent developments including adding more live data updates taking live data coverage close to 70%. Coming soon is Zap-Pay, allowing registered users to access and pay for charge points through the app.

Thank you to all of our Zap-Map users, with particular thanks to who have registered on the platform. As a community driven service we couldn’t have made Zap-Map the success it is without you. With continuing rapid growth in the EV car market, we look forward to welcoming our 200,000th registered user in the near future!
