EV Charging Solutions, an electric vehicle charge point installer based in Cirencester, has invested in a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to practice what it preaches.
Chris Everitt, Managing Director of EV Charging Solutions, chose to go electric after seeing his business expand with more and more people keen to have home charging points installed.
He said: “The sales figures show more motorists are buying low emission vehicles and with the Outlander PHEV it’s a no-brainer because if you run out of electric power you can run it on petrol, so there’s no anxiety.
“We’re seeing a lot of customers now who have bought an Outlander PHEV so it’s great to have the same vehicle and be able to talk to them about it. Having the PHEV shows that we take these vehicles seriously and we practise what we preach.”
EV Charging Solutions, based at the Nottingham CleanTech Centre in St Peter’s Street, benefited from the government Plug-in Car Grant, which covers up to £5000 of the cost of the vehicle.
John Kelly, an international business director for software company Cascaid in Loughborough, has just had a charging point installed in anticipation of receiving a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
John said: “I drive 25 miles to work and there’s a free charging point there so I can charge it while I’m at work and drive it home. Not only will I save on fuel but the company car tax saving was a big factor for me, which is going to be like getting a £2,000 pay rise.”
He added: “We can fit a lot of stuff in the back and go off on weekends with all our bikes. It’s ideal for us.”
The plug-in hybrid, which is exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge, uses both electric and petrol power. It can travel 32.5 miles on battery power, emits an average of 44g/km of CO2 and offers am official combined fuel consumption figure of 148mpg.
