As part of the company’s focus on electric vehicles, Mercedes Benz has partnered with Chargemaster to provide a simple home charging set-up for customers.
With a large number of plug-in vehicles already available and more confirmed to go on sale in the next year or so, Mercedes and Smart customers will be able to pick between either a 3.6kW or 7kW Chargemaster Homecharge unit as part of the car buying process.
Prices start at £279 and £354 for the 3.6kW and 7kW units respectively, which includes the £500 Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme grant provided by the government. Customers complete an online registration form and then the Mercedes Benz Homecharge team sort everything out, including assessing the home for suitability and advising on maintenance.
Mercedes Benz’s plug-in range already includes the C 350 e, E 350 e, GLE 500 e, and S 500 e plug-in hybrids, along with the all-electric B 250 e. The Smart electric drive range returns next year too, with EV versions of the fortwo, fortwo cabrio, and forfour all set to come to the UK in 2017. Mercedes also has the electric EQ range in the pipeline having announced details of it at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year.
Customers who have a point installed as part of the Chargemaster partnership also get six months free assess to the Polar public charging network.
