One of the UK’s largest national public charge point network’s, Charge Your Car (CYC), has increased their RFID subscription fee from £10 per annum to £20 a year.

CYC announced recently that they have stopped supplying their CYC Lifetime card and have replaced it with the CYC Access card.

For new subscribers this means paying an extra £10, however, existing card holders need not worry as these changes do not affect them.

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers that would like to access the CYC national charging network, which has over 1,500 charge points across the UK, can do so by either:

1) Sign up for a £20/ year CYC Access card
2) Download the CYC Smartphone App for free

It should be noted that using the mobile app to operate CYC points requires the user to be in range of signal, which is far from a guarantee, especially at some of the more remote locations. Therefore, to ensure access to all CYC points, it is advisable to use both the RFID card and the app.

For more details on the changes visit the CYC website. Alternatively, to see a map of all the UK’s charging points go to Zap-Map Live.
