Five new, government funded electric car charging points are to be installed at Three Bridges Station in Crawley.

Thanks to £375,000 of funding from the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), Southern railway company is in the process of installing 50 electric vehicle charging points in 13 station car parks across its network.

The charging points will part of the Energise public charging network and accessible with a membership RFID card. They are due to go live within the next few weeks.

Southern’s head of environment Sandra Norval said: “We’re on target for installation of most of the 50 EV charging points by the end of March, with the final few to come soon after.

“Who knows, the installation of these charging points may even encourage more electric car sales. If that happens, everyone wins.”
